Frederic William Maitland - Heatley - 1907

Wth a letter from the author and in very good condition, bound in a handsome half dark green sheepskin binding over marbled boards, tooled and titled in gilt. Marbled endpapers very fresh displaying the bookplate of ‘Jain Ramsay of Kildalton, Islay’ and the bookseller’s label of ‘John Turton, Willington, Co. Durham’. Endpapers clean, very lightly foxed. Tipped in before the title page is a handwritten letter from the author to ‘My dear Ramsay’ dated July 1907, Bamburgh, written on University of Edinburgh headed paper. The text block contains 20pp. reprinted from the Juridical Review April, 1907 celebrating the achievements in the study of history and history of law and political thought of the late Frederic William Maitland.
