Four Quartets - WITH LAVISH ANNOTATION

A very good copy in cream cloth titled in gilt to front with the crest of Mundella School, Nottingham and a School Prize bookplate pasted to the front endpapers which reveals that the volume was awarded to a student who went on to became an distinguished scholar of English Literature. The volume is meticulously and elaborately annotated throughout by that same school boy, probably later in his career. Each page teems with neatly written notes, references, under linings and annotations; every verse subject to questioning, analysis and interpretation and blank pages filled with further note taking. Laid in is an A4 sheet of further written notes and the remnants of the dust wrapper; the rear panel only. 44 pp. From the collection of a retired University of Leeds academic.
