Uncommon 3 volume 1812 edition which has been beautifully extra illustrated throughout, blending the descriptive text of the early 19th century topographical survey with a much broader, customised collection of visual imagery. The numerous additions totalling c.200 engravings throughout the three volumes, probably reflect the personal tastes and efforts of an individual collector making these 3 grangerised volumes unique.

In very good condition, the set is bound in later half crimson morocco an over red cloth, titled and embossed in gilt to handsome 6 panelled spines. Gilt text block edges. Very sound and very square copies. Marbled endpapers and text blocks clean and unmarked. Additional plates bound in depict landscapes, relics, architecture and heraldic coats of arms, many with hand-written titles.

Volume 1 : 384 pp. containing a colour fold out map of Wales in very good condition. Volume 2: pp.385 -720. Volume 3: pp.721 - 917 followed by list of books, index and errata. A scarce set of first editions of this wonderfully detailed guide to the beauties of Wales.

OCLC locates only one complete institutional set - Melbourne.
