A handwritten letter dated 1979 signed by David Attenborough is laid into this 1979 hardback edition of his foundational book on natural history which changed the way people viewed and interacted with the natural world. He thanks the letter’s author for going to the trouble of writing to him to express her pleasure in the accompanying landmark TV series. Now just turning a 100 Sir David Attenborough’s life and work has fundamentally changed the world by transforming global awareness and driving environmental action.

Unclipped jacket near good; a little shelf worn. Handwritten letter to verso on paper headed ‘David Attenborough 5 Park Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW106NS telephone 01-940-****’. Dated 4.3.79 and written and signed in his hand to ‘Dear Mrs Thom[burn]’.
