A Restoration era play quarto from a collection compiled by the financier and book collector, Sir Isaac Lyon Goldsmid (1778-1859) and rebound by 'T Connolly' of Dublin. The Wife's Relief: or The Husband's Cure. A Comedy by Charles Johnson, 1712, Jacob Tonson, [8], pp68, collated and complete as per the English Short Title Catalogue, first edition. Bound in half vellum over marbled boards with black Morocco label, last quarter of the 19th century, binder's ticket of 'T Connolly, 10 Up. Ormond Quay, Dublin'. In very good condition, vellum corners lacking, small stain to the title page, some pages browned but text is clean with no inscriptions. From an extensive Irish collection of quarto plays.
