Five issues published between 1837 - 1839 of Thomas Peckett Prest's illustrated weekly periodical parodying Charles Dickens' first novel, 'The Pickwick Papers'. Numbered 49, 50, 54,86 and 87. Thomas Peckett Prest, a prolific producer of penny dreadfuls was known as a skilled author in the horror genre, best known as the co-creator of the character Sweeney Todd. He wrote the Penny Pickwick under the pseudonym 'Bos', based on Dickens' own pen name, 'Boz'. Printed and published by E Lloyd, 62 Broad St, Bloomsbury.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: In very good condition. Each issue is complete, unmarked and contains a crisp vignette illustration to the first page and further illustrations throughout. It must be noted that No. 51 has suffered partial loss to the the top corner throughout but the text remains uncompromised. Some worming throughout all issues although confined to the gutter margin and tail.
