First separate edition of Cicero's Verrine orations with Giunta’s preface addressed to Tommaso Pighinucci. A little sequence of early ownership signatures on the first flyleaf take us back to 17th century Venice, the earliest from 1621; then from the town of Gorizia: ‘Andreas de Thomasinis Goritia Dolce ingano d'amor cossanon voglie’ and a later inscription relating to a Signor Parrocco. An inscription from 1645 appears on the verso of the flyleaf.

DESCRIPTION Bound in 19th century vellum with the author, title and date in ink on the spine. A little label with a casemark appears on the front pastedown. An unsightly wormhole runs through the head of the first half dozen leaves. Quite extensive ink marginalia, probably by Andreas de Thomasini, for the first 50 pages or so. Otherwise the text is clean and unmarked. The text is complete: a8-z8, &8 8 Rx8, A8 with the final woodcut printer's device on verso of last leaf (the Giunta lily supported by two putti holding cornucopias). The book is printed in small italic type; spaces left for capitals, with guide letters; foliated with leaves printed on both sides.
