A lined ‘ John Heywood’ copybook containing 12 pages of printed invoices, letters, promissory notes, tradesman’s bills, inland bills and receipts to be copied by the student. The specimen transactions span a large geographical area and take place between a wide variety of clients. James Leech of Leeds requests and pays for goods from Jones and Reid of Bolton. Walter Nicholson of Liverpool promises to pay Mr John Green one hundred pounds sterling. A bill written to Mr John Matthews requests payment of fifty pounds and ten shillings within 2 months to Mr John Runcie of Montrose. Dr Mr Edward Cave’s account with E.E. Waterhouse and Co., Liverpool stands at 254 pounds, 16 shillings and 10 pence. The Rev James Brown pays the sum of 21 pounds, ten shillings and ten pence to Alexander Miller of Hull. William Hunt Esq., doctor to John Ryfsell is paid 16 pounds 13 shillings and 3 pence by John Russell of Stroud. The first entry is the only entry which details any goods naming tea, coffee and loaf sugar.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: The printed paper wrappers are detached from the text block but in good condition. 12 leaves within in excellent condition, written in a meticulous hand outlining the various transactions.
