A delightful copy of Ella Wheeler Wilcox's Poems of Pleasure, her collection of poems which capture the joy of living and was first published in 1888. This volume is undated, c1910. Hardback in very good condition, bound in rust coloured cloth with ornate gilt decoration to spine and upper board. Slightly bumped to corners. The book is printed on thick hand-made paper with pages untrimmed to fore-edge; top edge gilt. Gorgeous decorative endpapers in very good condition. Reproduced from a hand-illuminated copy by the binders Sangorski and Sutcliffe. Vibrantly coloured frontispiece by Frank C Pape surrounded in gilt with floral illuminated border protected wonderfully by dust sheet. Stunning title page with equally pleasing highly decorative borders. Very occasional spotting to leaves within as expected. Each poem included is lavishly decorated incorporating beautifully illluminated initials. Very light scattered foxing and tanning throughout but this remains a very attractive and very sound copy of a sought after volume. Measures 19.5 cm × 14 cm, 85pp. Collated and complete.
