A bespoke 16 mo volume containing a selection of the works of William Shakespeare from Alexander Pope’s landmark 18th century editions of his work and a pastoral comedy by Allan Ramsay published in Glasgow, dated 1772 and 1766. Mid 19th century calf binding is in good condition, a little scuffed and modestly bumped to edges and corners. Handsome spine panel in 6 compartments titled PLAYS in gilt over red ground. A previous owner’s bookplate in the name of Christine G Downie is displayed to front pastedown. Endpapers a little age toned but clean and unmarked. Bound in are:
