Master Humphrey’s Clock was published originally in 88 weekly parts between April 1840 and December 1841 with illustrations by G Cattermole and HK Browne. This limited-edition set is (apparently) one of 3000 complete sets published by the Anglo-American Historical Society in New York [circa 1985]. We can find no similar sets or individual copies available. The weeklies in this set are numbered 1-88 although the set is incomplete (13, 14,21,26, 27, 28, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 41, 43, 45, 46, 73, 77, 79-85, 87 and 88 are missing). A crisp limited-edition certificate accompanies the set, issued by the little known Anglo-American Historical Society; no edition number is noted.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: All 62 weeklies are in very good condition. No.1 is very minimally less so, a little age toned. Each weekly is an exact replica of the original, printed in a black font on cream-coloured leaves, dated and including illustrations and advertisements. Measuring 26cm x 17.5cm. The collection is housed in what may be its original red cloth backed box which is worn and frayed to several joints. A very faint aroma of woodsmoke pervades.
