Large oblong 4to format. Original pictorial boards beautifully illustrated to front in good condition. Colours remain vibrant. A well-loved copy, bumped to corners and spine ends. Rear board age worn, a little scratched with some pencil marks. Front endpapers contain b/w illustrations alongside pencil scribbles of previous owner. An inscription to front paste down reads ‘Edgar Davies (and Arthur written at a later date)) with Granny Read’s love wishing him Many happy returns of the day. December 18^th 1914’. Small bookseller’s label reads ‘ J.A.D. BRIDGER, Bookseller, New and Second hand, Market Jew St, Penzance’. Rear endpapers clean. Cracking over gutters front and rear. Text block tender. 8 leaf section to middle loosened from spine. Leaves within a little finger marked with use. Clean tears to 3 leaves. Minimal pen marks on 2 leaves not compromising text or illustrations noted on collation. b/w plates throughout. 8 full page coloured amusing picture plates in very good condition, unmarked, remaining vibrant. 28 pp. Printed in Bavaria.
