An interesting vellum bound handwritten early text in very good condition. Attractive limp vellum binding, sound if a little discoloured. Remnants of spine supports laced into velum cover remain visible as are remnants of previous ties close to foreedge. Spine hand titled in brown ink ‘Ronda in Logicum’ [Logical Cycle]. Front endpapers cracking over gutter revealing binding underneath which remains sound. c. 200 leaves extremely densely handwritten to verso and recto in Latin. The handwriting is small and neat, practically without error throughout. New sections are headed in bolder more decorative cursives. Text block is toned to edges, clean and clear throughout. One full page etching included titled ‘S Thomas A Villa Nova’ by Wenceslaus Hollar, an image dating back to circa. 1625 -1677 depicting St Thomas, an Augustinian friar and archbishop known for his charity. The final sentence ‘hoc sinitum fuit ame qui vocox nomem Joseph Assennaro’ reveals the name of the probable author and translates roughly from the Latin as ‘this was permitted, love, who calls out the name of Joseph Assennaro’.
