Half bound marbled boards with soft calf to spine in fair condition. Boards faded, marked and bumped to corners. Spine panel starting and cracked to top showing 5cm section of binding. End papers age worn, binding visible along gutter but remain soundly attached. Front paste down soiled to fore edge and annotated in a contemporary hand ‘Anne Ellis Friston Hall Saxmundham Suffolk’. Rear paste down clean, annotated neatly to top corner ‘Anne Ellis’. On the front paste down 12 leaves of hand written recipes begin signed and dated ‘Anne Ellis Friston Hall May 2nd 1821’. To the top of the rear free end paper is a hand written sentence in French in another hand. Following are a further 5 domestic recipes and 5 pp. of lists of properties and their rental costs. The leaves to the middle of the boards remain blank.
