1801 map in very good condition in original slip case. Hand coloured, very detailed map of the western Yorkshire Dales and the eastern Lake District, showing the extent of the former English county of Westmorland. This attractive region of hills, rivers, and small towns, now known as the gateway to the Lake District, is attractively portrayed.

Published as a loose sheet map segmented and pasted on folding linen in sixteen sections measuring 53 cm by 47 cm. All panels sound and intact, a little age toned. Attractive pink border. Minor spotting and browning to reverse. Minimal fraying to sides. Visually the print is clear and clean.

Slip case in good condition measuring 14 cm x 12.5 cm. Blue and pink marbled paper on card, a little soiled, very slight bruising to corners and edges. Original publisher’s decorative label to front, a little discoloured, reading ‘MAP OF THE COUNTY OF WESTMORELAND’.
