Attractive, hand coloured, very detailed map of Westmoreland in good condition in its original slip case. Published 1820 as a loose sheet map segmented and pasted on folding linen in twelve sections measuring 49 cm by 40.5 cm. Top right panel separated along vertical join, 1 cm clean tear to fold of bottom left panel, otherwise all panels sound and intact, yellowed, age toned, a little browning to edges. Visually the print is otherwise clear and clean. Map includes an engraving of Winander Mere and a summary of market towns and market days. Original colour still vibrant.

Slip case in good condition, mottled green paper on card showing bruising to corners, surface abrasion to top edges. Structurally very sound. ‘Westmoreland’ inscribed in black ink over white ground to top left-hand side panel. Front plate, age toned, browned, inscribed in black font, ‘Westmoreland; BY THOMAS DIX, Surveyor, Price 4s. 6d.’ Pink, decorative ownership label reading John Mount above. Small rectangular publisher’s plate to rear.
