A signed first edition bound in cyan publisher’s cloth with gilt lettering and border to front board and spine in very good condition with slight bumping and discolouration to spine. Browning to end papers. Author’s image frontispiece with protective tracing paper tipped in. Signature found below image. A four page hand-written letter on blue paper is tipped in to the upper flyleaf. The letter by R. W. Dixon addresses a Mr Jackson and is dated December 23rd 1896 from Warkworth Vicarage. It discusses personal matters as well as Dixon’s feelings towards the proposed changes to John Wesley’s tomb in which it is to be replaced by ‘a more ornate monument’. Dixon felt so strongly opposed to this he states that he ‘wrote a strong remonstrance’ to ‘Kelly at the Conference Office.’. The letter between two friends is signed off by Dixon with ‘yours very affectionately’.
