UNCORRECTED PROOF COPY - For the Unfallen: Poems 1952-1958

Pre-publication proof of Geoffrey Hill's first mainstream collection of poetry. Printed card wrappers inscribed ‘June’ to upper cover - presumably the month of first publication. Collates [14] pp59 [5]. Very good condition throughout, the text clean and unmarked.

Hill taught at Leeds University from 1954-1980 which probably explains the appearance of this volume among a library of books recently acquired in Yorkshire. The poems in this volume have been described as ‘largely vatic in nature’ - the collection was a success and it begins with the famous poem ‘Genesis’.
