Ellen Terry and Bernard Shaw [PRESENTATION COPY]

A presentation copy from the editor who has inscribed their book: ‘It is a great pleasure to the editor of this correspondence to inscribe this copy for “Jack” Leon. Christopher St John Smallhythe 24th of October 1932.’ Additionally a signature of Ellen Terry has been tipped onto the first flyleaf. The book is in good condition only, the boards marked; quizzical pencil marginalia throughout, particularly around the identity of ‘Miss Christopher St John’, the editor, who was really Christabel Gertrude Marshall, a British campaigner for women’s suffrage (1871-1960) who had acted as a secretary to Ellen Terry and published quite extensively under her male pseudonym.
