[Reserved MH] Bernard Leach’s personal copy of the exhibition catalogue for a Japanese exhibition that he attended in 1973 in Tokyo.

Brown textured wrapper with Leach’s descriptive title written on the upper cover: ‘Tokunabe Exhibition 22.IV.73 old pieces 900 years Mitsokoshi.’ 52 pages, extensively illustrated, printed in the Japanese alphabet throughout. Japanese business card, presumably given to Leach when he attended the exhibition, laid in.

Leach’s regular trips to Japan and his own exhibitions held there maintained his relationship with the art and people of that country. Leach was a major figure of 20th century art who played a crucial pioneering role in creating an identity for artist potters across the world, but most importantly in Britain and Japan.
