xi [52] pp 1-382 The First Volume of the 1767 eight volume edition of Theobald's Shakespeare edition containing 'The Tempest, The Midsummer-Night's Dream, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Merry Wives of Windsor and Measure for Measure'. The Van de Gucht portrait frontispiece of Shakespeare is present and each play has its own Gucht engraving. The text is very good, crisp and clean, bound in full panelled calf. The covers are detached, the leather is worn, especially to the upper panel along the spine, back strip lacking, but the pages are still firmly bound. Overall good.
