Red Men and White

A First British Edition of this collection of Western short stories by Owen Wister, author of 'The Virginian'. It is illustrated by his friend, the artist and sculptor Frederick Remington who specialised in depictions of the American West. In publisher's tan cloth with gilt titles and vignettes of a cowboy and native American, very good, covers rubbed to spine ends and edges and lightly marked, hinge starting to crack but the text is complete with its black and white plates, some spotting to the pages, no marks or inscriptions. Bookplate of Francis William Buxton 1890 to front pastedown. A very pleasing early example of the Western fiction genre.
