[Vols I, II, V, VIII] Four volumes from an incomplete set of Henry Fielding's work, being the new edition of 1771, owned and bearing the bookplates of Edward Lascelles, first Earl of Harewood. Bound in a very handsome tree calf with neo-classical decoration to the boards and sun-bursts to the spine with red moroccos labels, the leather is now cracked with some old amateur repairs to the outer hinges. Each volume has the armorial bookplate of 'Edward Earl of Harewood', 'In solo Deo salus', to the front pastedown; Volume I also has Lascelles' bookplate on the rear pastedown where someone no doubt held the book upside down to paste the plate on before realising their error. An old ink shelfmark appears on the verso of the marbled endpaper of each volume: 'E.4', amended later in pencil to F4. The volumes are in good condition only with old staining and some pages missing, notably: Vol I (frontispiece present, lacking title page) Vol II complete; Vol V complete with bookplate crossed out - perhaps on deacquisitioning from the library at Harewood House either in London or Yorkshire; Vol VIII lacking title page.
