Important pamphlet owned by the British potter Harry Horlock-Stringer. Original printed wrappers, 'Froebel Handwork Library' in ink on the front cover with a shelfmark sticker on the spine and bookplate on the lower cover. Small tear at head of spine. St Madeleine Sophie House stamp on title page with the blind ownership stamp of 'HHS' below. Good text and half tone photographs. Stringer who worked at the old Fulham Pottery in the 1950s subsequently moved to nearby Taggs Yard in Barnes, south-west London. His work made him friends from across the world including many leading potters and lay enthusiasts such as the actor Ginger Rogers. Stringer experimented with his own glazes and firing techniques, and wrote a book on Raku, becoming a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association, editing the association's journal for a time and exhibiting widely as well as lecturing at home and abroad.
