A unique photograph album containing 19 original mounted photographs above typed descriptions of the Royal Yacht Britannia’s arrival in Fort William (at dusk on August 17th 1958) and visit ashore the next day by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and their children. Beautifully composed, square in format with slim white borders, the photographs include titles, ‘A Hundred Thousand Welcomes, A Practice Run for the Royal Launch, All Agog!, Lord Macdonald, Duke of Edinburgh, The Queen, The Royal Children and Presents unto Her Majesty. Photos include images of The Royal Family, local dignitaries, the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, Mrs Mackinnon, Mr and Mrs Hobbs and Lord Macdonald.

In very good condition. Faux leather landscape photograph album inscribed ‘Photographs’ in gilt to front. Photos and descriptions mounted on black leaves to versos throughout; all in very good, clean and fresh condition. Lower pastedown records, ‘Developed and Printed by Wallace Heaton Limited, London W1’, ‘Captions by Henry Rowe’.

A wonderful collection of unseen, candid photographs of this leg of the Queen’s tour of the West Highlands taken during the first decade of her reign.
