Edward Witts’s cash and memorandum books dated 1791 - 1816, originating in his solicitor’s practice in Tenterden in Kent. Each volume is titled and dated to the front cover, bursting with dated business transactions, clients, monies in and out, notes (Fuller v Brown, Chambers Stamp Bill 24 -6 -7, Taylor Salary 2 weeks, Justice Papers 19 -9, Goldsmiths, Butchers etc).

Annual turnover is recorded as approaching c £500 per annum. 2 volumes have the signature ‘Edw Witts’ to front flyleaves. One volume contains an alphabetised list of clients alongside balances.

All 8 books in very good condition; bindings and contents clean and sound. Each consisting of c 40pp written on and ruled to both recto and verso with blotting paper leaves in between.
