Jeffrey Wainwright was born in Stoke on Trent and attended the University of Leeds becoming a leading figure of the Leeds School of Poets with Geoffrey Hill, Tony Harrison, and Jon Silkin. Wainwright writes lyrically about the capacity and limit of human engagement with the world around us.
