Widely admired by fellow poets, by critics and by serious readers of poetry, Geoffrey Hill was a poet with many and passionate admirers, for whom his now substantial oeuvre represents one of the great poetic achievements of the last hundred years. He spent three decades living and working in Leeds where he made many close friendships before departing for Cambridge.
