In very good condition. Pocket sized Edwardian children’s book in rarely surviving original matching protective slip case. Slipcase overall good plus showing minimal edge wear; top edge has split cleanly open separating top panel from side panel but all parts otherwise intact; pictorial paste on cover illustration lovely and bright. Card wrappers very good, illustrated with matching paste on cover; cord tied spine very good; coloured pattern endpapers fresh and unmarked; full colour frontispiece plate and charming line illustrations very good throughout. pp64. ‘Barbara’ written in pencil in a child’s hand to front flyleaf and ‘book’ written to top of title page. A charming little book from the miniature library series published between Henry Frowde and Hodder and Stoughton, an alliance famous for manufacturing beautifully illustrated books for younger readers.
