The Dance of Death; from the original designs of Hans Holbein

Hand Holbein and Wenceslaus Hollar illustrated edition in near very good condition. Dark brown textured paper covered boards just a little bumped to corners and edges; slight nick to top edge; the outline of a water stain is evident to upper. Spine titled in gilt, cracking along joint with lower board. Endpapers and text block unmarked and very sound; leaves age toned as expected mainly to edges. Complete with 33 plates including frontispiece engraving of Wenceslaus Hollar, an engraving of Hans Holbein to preliminaries and 29 depicting ‘Hollar’s Dance of Death’ engraved by W Hollar with descriptions in French and English; all in very good condition; 2 suffer from a small semi circular chip to the upper margin. 70 pp. collated and complete.
