Rochdale bound and owned, a five volume set in good condition, each found in contemporary calf, blind stamped to upper and lower boards, and titled in gilt ‘Burns Works’ to six panelled spines; bumped to corners and a little scuffed throughout. The upper boards of volumes 1 and 5 remain just attached, otherwise bindings and text blocks sound and square. Each volume is stamped in gilt along the turn-in at the fore edge of the front pastedown ‘Bound by Dyson and Brown, Rochdale’. An ownership label remains in Volume 1 which reads ‘G Cowan’. Frontispiece engravings to each title page. A glossary to rear of each volume. Printed by Michael Anderson. A very attractive set of the fourth edition.
