Rules laid down by Queen Elizabeth I on her accession to the throne which would govern the religious life of the English people and the clergy under the Protestant settlement. This 1600 printing dates from towards the end of her reign.

DESCRIPTION: Disbound small quarto; first three leaves detached from sewing; worm hole close to gutter, some staining. Title page and successive leaves a little chipped to edges; title printed within a border of woodcut ornaments which feature the Royal arms, Faith and Humility. The printed text has been annotated quite extensively to the first few pages with summary notes in the margin in an early italic hand - surely lawyerly - continuing sporadically throughout. Five large initial letters including ‘For Tables in the Church’ (D3r) and D4: ‘Ye’.STC 10105
