The book which was owned by its author Maurice Allward is presented here in its original binding, with the logo of the conference tipped onto the front cover. Overleaf are 5 long inscriptions written by Pitcairn islanders such as ‘Greetings from Tom Christian M.B.E. Great Great Great Grandson of Fletcher Christian Leader of the Mutineers of H.M.S. Bounty 22nd June 2005.’ and opposite and over the following page 54 signatures of ‘Lecturers and Stall Holders’ at the St Petersburg Conference. Laid in is a photographic note from Pitcairn and tipped onto the final inside cover are name badges for the conference which were used by Maurice Allward and his wife. This book is one of the regular issue but distinguished by the use made of it by Maurice Allward, drawing on his unrivalled connections with Pitcairn Island and its inhabitants.
