First edition, first impression of Daphne Du Maurier's classic of romantic fiction, Rebecca, which boasts one of the great first lines in English literature: 'Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.' This first edition is in the original black cloth binding with 'Rebecca' in gilt in the corner of the upper board. There is spine lean but very good black boards. Ownership inscription from 1941 on the first flyleaf. There is a wrinkling to the paper along the inner hinge between the board and this flyleaf that suggests it has been repaired but no such issues at the end of the book. Browning and a couple of marks to the early pages - this is a well read copy. Ownership stamp to the verso of the final flyleaf and a piece of yellow paper glued to the final pastedown. A good to very good copy only. Collates correctly: [5] pp 5-446
