Complete set of Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons adventure novels, the first of which was published in 1930. All bound in green publisher’s cloth with gilt lettering to spine, embossed title to front board and illustrated end papers. Each includes a black and white illustration frontispiece with similar illustrations located throughout. Eleven reprints ranging from 1939 -1947 and one first edition, Great Northern?. Slight bumping to top and tail of spine to seven of the novels, black/brown markings to spine (Great Northern?, Missee Lee), small hole to spine hinge (Swallowdale), split to gutter between lower end papers (Swallowdale), cello tape to upper and lower gutter between end papers (We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea), discolouration to spine/boards (Missee Lee, Winter Holiday), and some foxing to end papers (Great Northern?, Winter Holiday, Peter Duck, Secret Water, Coot Club, Missee Lee). Otherwise all in good to very good condition. All with good dust jackets with attractive, bright designs. Not price clipped. Loss to top or tail of spine (The Big Six, Peter Duck, Great Northern?, We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea, The Picts and Martyrs), cello tape restoration and/or scars to inner side (The Big Six, Peter Duck, Great Northern?, Swallowdale, The Picts and Martyrs). Jacket detached in two, down spine hinge (Great Northern?). Small tears and chips to edges affecting all jackets. Additionally, an ownership book plate to the imprint/dedication page is present to eight of the novels. Ownership inscription to half title page/end papers to The Picts and Martyrs and Winter Holiday. Gift inscription to half title page/end papers to Pigeon Post, The Big Six, and Swallows and Amazons.
