34x19cm Rare eighteenth century playbill for Bristol Theatre-Royal, the oldest continually operating theatre in the English speaking world. Browning to tail of broadside with loss to lower right corner, not affecting text. Raymond and Agnes was an early adaptation of Matthew Lewis’s Gothic novel, The Monk which first appeared in 1796. The broadside offers a very detailed summary of the ‘ballet pantomime’s’ events. Seemingly unrecorded. Provincial playbill’s from Bristol are very uncommon indeed.
