The Hermit of the Rock

An undated reprint from the early 1890s of Mary Anne Sadleir's popular novel, The Hermit of the Rock, bound in publisher's textured green cloth with a Celtic harp in gilt to the upper cover and gilt lettering to the spine. A little fading to the boards; original black endpapers with some foxing to the preliminaries and an ink jotted number at the top of the title page. A good copy which is enhanced by the presence of the decorative publisher's binding. Mrs Sadleir, or Sadlier as she appears here, emigrated to Canada in the 1804s but continued to write fiction with an Irish background for decades after.
